Why Westernsaddle in Europe?

There are important differences when it comes to the different breeds of horses that are saddled with a westernsaddle. And, as westernriding is comparetively new in Europe, there is a lack in the knoledge neccesary to choose the right saddle for your horse.

 

while it is possible to find a well fitting saddle for almost any type of horse in America, only a very small number of sizes is available in Europe. Which is strange, as we tend to ride a much greater varity of breeds in westernsport as is usual in America.

While a westernsaddle is most comfortable for a horse when a good fit, it can cause great damage to the horse if the fit is incorrect.

 

This site containes information on westernsaddles. It shows the different names of the parts, information on how to choose the right saddle for your horse, and how to care for your saddle and tack.

 

I am both an artist and a saddlemaker, the information which I share with you, is based on the many years' experience of Willem Muijs, the saddlemaker who taught me the craft of saddlemaking.
